MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Senior Macy Merchant was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Great Lakes All-Region Second Team on Thursday, May 16.
Merchant was named All-MAC First Team and to the MAC All-Tournament team this season. She is the first CMU player to earn All-Region honors since Kari Seddon in 2011.
Merchant has been consistent at the plate for Central Michigan all season, winning the Mid-American Conference batting title with 36 hits and a .474 batting average in conference play. She currently is hitting .416 for the entire season, driving home 10 runs and scoring 39. Merchant’s 22 stolen bases this season has moved her into fourth place in program history with 74 career steals and she led the MAC with 13 against conference opponents. In addition to her base running, Merchant leads the team with 72 hits and is second with three triples.
Merchant is on pace to break the single-season record for batting average. She ranks second in program history with a career average of .365.
