Live Audition Components:
Technical Elements
All people trying out for the 2013-2014 CMU Dance Team will be required
to perform four eight-counts of your best technical skills. This will
take place during the actual tryout after you perform the CMU
choreographed routines. You will be judged on difficulty and execution.
Your Own Routine/Skills Set
You do not need to choreograph a routine. If you want to prepare a
series and rehearse it for your technical elements section it is
strongly encouraged.
Picking The Team
Our judges come from dance backgrounds and a history with CMU. There is
no set number for who is picked for the team. This is based on where
there is a natural break in the scores. Those who make the team are
chosen by the Head Coach based on potential, attitude, past experiences,
interaction with others, as well as judges' scores.
Re-try Out
With the exception of the newly elected team captains, all current members will be trying out again.
Attire
Please wear comfortable dance attire that allows you move freely. Dance
shoes are recommended. You MUST wear form-fitting clothing for the
actual tryout portions, so judges can see body lines, positioning, and
movement.
Cost
There is a non refundable tryout application fee of $20. Checks can be made out to Central Michigan University Dance Team.
