Chippewa Champions is designed to provide benefits that bring our champions closer to the programs of their choice.

  • Exclusive logo apparel
  • Exclusive communication, including audio e-mail updates from the head coach
  • At least two exclusive events and an invitation to an end-of-the-year gathering
  • Game program and web site recognition

We invite you to take a look at some of the initiatives the men's basketball program has identified as worthy of its championship funds. In becoming a Chippewa Champion, you play a significant part in ensuring these projects are completed. [Championship Fund initiatives]

Men's Basketball Event A spirit of togetherness between our programs and their closest friends is what lies at the heart of Chippewa Champions. At least one in-season and one out-of-season event will be held to celebrate and recognize the Men's Basketball Chippewa Champions – the people who help make success possible. Information regarding time and place will be placed on this page, or you may contact the Chippewa Athletic Fund liaison listed below.

Event #1:  - We invite the best friends of CMU Basketball to stop by McGuirk Arena during their lunch hour on Wednesday, October 16, as we host a scrimmage for Media Day from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. There will be an opportunity for our Chippewa Champions to interact with players and staff on the court immediately following practice.

Event #2:  - Join us on Friday, October 18, with our Men’s Basketball Chippewa Champion preseason event! We are inviting the best friends of CMU Basketball to take an inside look at CMU Men's Basketball a week before we open the 2013 season. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., our staff will offer guided tours of our facilities including the coaches offices and the locker room.

Then, at 5:30 p.m., we invite our Chippewa Champions to enjoy a spread of heavy appetizers in the Events Center Media Room and interact with our players and coaches. Finally, we hope you'll finish the evening by watching all or part of a closed practice session beginning at 6:30 p.m. We will also distribute our new Men’s Basketball Chippewa Champion membership gear at this event so we would love to have as many of our Chippewa Champions in attendance as possible! We ask that you please RSVP to this event by no later than Tuesday, October 15, by contacting the Chippewa Athletic Fund at 989-774-6680 or by email at

Event #3: On Friday, November 22, we invite all of our Men's Basketball Chippewa Champions to watch the second game of the Central Michigan Tournament from the Upper Club Lounge of McGuirk Arena. The lounge opens at 6:00 p.m. and tip-off against the Montana State Bobcats is slated for 7:00 p.m. We invite our Champions to stick around for a post-game meet and greet with members of the CMU Basketball staff.

Event #4: On Saturday, January 18, we invite all of our Men's Basketball Chippewa Champions to join us for our men's basketball alumni night. All Men's Basketball Chippewa Champions and Men's Basketball alumni are invited to watch us take on Eastern Michigan from the Upper Club Lounge of McGuirk Arena. The lounge opens at 6:00 p.m. and tip-off against the Eagles is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Homecoming Event – All Chippewa Champions are eligible to receive two complimentary admissions to the Athletic Fund Pre-Game Tailgate at Touchdown Terrace as well as two complimentary tickets to the homecoming football game on Saturday, October 19. The tailgate opens at 11:00 a.m. and kickoff is at 3:00 p.m. Please call the Chippewa Athletic Fund at 989-774-6680 for more details and to RSVP for this great event.

Our former Chippewa student-athletes are among the greatest resources for current athletes. You are a link to our tradition of greatness and your achievements beyond Mount Pleasant extend our reach by bringing notoriety and prestige to our programs. CMU Athletics has success today, in large part, because of our special alumni.

Chippewa Champions presents a unique opportunity for our programs and letterwinners to re-connect. It allows our former letterwinners to remain a part of the inner circle of CMU Athletics and to contribute financially to the success of current and future student-athletes. In becoming a Chippewa Champion, our former athletes ensure that their positive impact on the program didn't end after their final competitive performance.
