MOUNT PLEASANT - The Central Michigan track and field squad will be splitting up this weekend, as a group of athletes head to the University of Tennessee on Friday, April 12 and Western Kentucky University on Saturday, April 13. The distance squad and a few other athletes will be competing close to home at Northwood University on Saturday.
“The Tennessee and Western Kentucky meets give our athletes a chance to compete in nicer weather, and competing on back-to-back days helps them prepare for the MAC Championship meet,” said Director of Track and Field Willie Randolph.
On Friday, select sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers will be competing at the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee’s Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium. Running events will start at 12:35 p.m.
Those same athletes will be competing at the Hilltopper Relays at WKU on Saturday. Running events will start at 12 p.m.
The Chippewas distance squad, along with select other athletes, will compete, pending weather, at Northwood University in the NU Open on Saturday. Both running and jumping events will start at 11 a.m.
