Chippewas are All-In for First Scrimmage

"We were able to get our older players in and out fairly early and take a look at a lot of players in a lot of different situations," said head coach Dan Enos. "We saw some young players do some good things today."
While most starting roles are solidified, battles do still exist at most positions, according to Enos, including backup quarterback, third running back, and openings in three and four wide receiver packages.
Senior quarterback Ryan Radcliff took every snap with the first unit this morning while Alex Niznak, Cody Kater and A.J. Westendorp split time with the second team during the seven first-half series. Cooper Rush worked behind center three of the four series with the second team after halftime.
"It's hard to get four quarterbacks a lot of reps but we will have plenty of opportunities over the next two weeks to evaluate those guys. Today was just a small picture of camp. All of these guys have had their ups and downs. We are just waiting on one of them to emerge."
Both sides of the ball had times that entertained the several hundred parents and family in attendance. The defense protected its goal line with three interceptions inside the 10 – two by Brandon Greer and one by Jason Wilson – and numerous additional tipped passes, while the offense provided a pair of touchdown passes from Radcliff to Jesse Kroll and Rush to Ben McCord, and the kickers were perfect on the day in four field goal attempts and two extra points.
"We are fortunate to have a lot of experienced veterans playing key roles and a lot of young guys developing very well, and that's exactly where we want to be as a program," Enos said.
