First team All-America third baseman and Mid-American Conference Player of the Year in 1994 … earned first team All-MAC honors in 1994 and second team in 1992 … at the completion of his career, ranked third in school history for extra base hits (67), fourth in doubles (37) and home runs (27) and fifth in slugging percentage (.615) … hit .415 during 1994 All-America campaign while blasting 17 homers and driving in 63 runs to win the MAC triple crown … the RBI total tied CMU’s single-season record while the home run total ranked second … led the Chippewas to the 1994 MAC Tournament title, 1994 NCAA appearance and the 1993 MAC regular season championship … three-year letterwinner … selected in the 1994 Major League Baseball draft and reached double-A in 1997 before retiring from professional baseball after four seasons …  a native of Farmington Hills, Mich., Young passed away unexpectedly in 2008 at the age of 36 … he is survived by his wife, Michelle, and children Hanna and Liam.
