MOUNT PLEASANT - Chippewa fans will now have easier access to up-close video content from CMU Athletics with the launch of the official CMU Athletics YouTube channel.
The YouTube channel, which can be found at www.youtube.com/CmichAthletics, will feature behind-the-scenes footage as various sport programs continue to engage and interact with Chippewa fans through social media efforts.
"Our program puts out a lot of video content that alllows our fans and recruits to see what it is like inside our program," said head volleyball coach Erik Olson. "YouTube opens up a whole new way to reach everybody–in today's mobile world. I am really excited to get each week's highlights out to the world, not just to our website. We have just become more accessible."
"The launch of our official YouTube channel gives us another opportunity in the viral world to provide an inside look at each of our programs and what makes each one unique," Director of Athletic Communications Jason Kaufman said. "With the continuing changes in communications, we have to make it easy for our fans to connect with CMU Athletics no matter what device they are using."
In conjunction with the release of the YouTube channel, Social Media Central will be running a summer campaign on Facebook and Twitter.
Each time a new "Top Play of the Year" is released on YouTube, fans will have 24 hours to vote for that video in one of three ways. Each of the actions will count as one "vote:"
- "Like" the video on YouTube
- "Like" the video on Facebook
- Retweet the video link on Twitter
After all 12 videos have been released, fans will have one final chance to vote for their top play of the year.
