Chippewa Challenge Ups the Ante in Year Three

On Friday, June 15, nearly 500 individuals came together and ensured that 2012 would be another record-breaking year for the Challenge as they helped the Chippewa Athletic Fund realize a five percent increase in total money raised for CMU student-athletes.
All 16 CMU varsity programs were represented at CMU Athletics’ signature summer event.
With all that the day entails, the Chippewa Challenge continues to redefine itself as more than just a golf outing.
The day began as golfers teed off at one of three of Mount Pleasant’s top courses—Bucks Run, the Pohlcat and Mount Pleasant Country Club. Participants in on-course contests had a chance to take home a 46” TV or a set of TaylorMade golf clubs, putt for $10,000 in cash and three players took a shot at $1 million.
After the final putt was holed, the excitement of the day continued with the dinner celebration and silent auction at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort.
An impressive dinner spread was complimented by live and silent auctions that featured a Comerica Park suite package for 18 to a Tigers game.
The night at Comerica was followed in grand style as one individual took home the once-in-a-lifetime CMU game day experience that included all-access passes for CMU’s Clash at Kelly/Shorts on September 8 and the right to take the field with the team as they prepare to face Michigan State.
These featured items along with various memorabilia and unique CMU game day packages helped generate over $20,000 for CMU student-athletes; a large part of the $160,000 in total revenue generated by Chippewa Challenge sponsors and participants.
The Chippewa Challenge has cemented itself as one of the premier summer events in all of mid-Michigan. Its success, however, would not have been possible without support of sponsors like the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters, Quest Software, Quest Towing, Fabiano Brothers and the over 75 other individuals and businesses.
Thanks to all who stepped up and met the Chippewa Challenge in 2012!
