Volleyball Championship Fund

The success of the volleyball program since 2006 is the direct result of the financial commitments that our former letter winners, parents, fans and friends have made to our Championship Club and Championship Fund accounts.

This program has MAC championship expectations and I believe we are close to achieving this goal. As we strengthen our Championship Culture, additional financial resources are needed to assist our program in meeting needs above and beyond traditional operating expenditures. These resources will assist the program as we strive to become a championship-level program in the Mid-American Conference as well as on the national level.

Below you will find a brief description of our Championship Fund goals. By specifically targeting this goal, you will see your contribution, at work, in a tangible sense. Thank you for your continued support and I hope that I can count on you to continue to elevate our program.

Current Championship Fund Initiatives

Second Assistant  Coach

Our program is moving forward with a monumental upgrade of our Graduate Assistant position to a full-time second assistant coach.  This will elevate our program in many ways. It will grow our competitiveness for recruiting to expand our eyes of the program, increase our recruiting range (regional vs. national), and increase the number of evaluations per year.  The level of coaching will be increased by the entire staff because we can have dedicated coaches on precise parts of the game. Our production level in the office will increase, allowing the entire program to grow. The new hire will create an offensive coordinator, allowing our associate head coach to become a full-time defensive coordinator.

Annual Cost: $10,000 for two years

*We would like to recognize the efforts Head Coach Erik Olson, Associate Head Coach Dave Zelenock
and Assistant Coach Theresa Beeckman for redirecting their 2011 summer camp pay to aid in the funding
of CMU volleyball's top Championship Fund inititaive, financing a second assistant coach.

Enhanced Travel Budget

With the increased cost of travel, the cost of team travel has never been higher. For our program to continue striving to break into the national volleyball scene, we need to continue to travel beyond our region. This will help us to compete nationally to play RPI teams for NCAA tournament bids and seeding, while our athletes while will compete against different styles of volleyball, and this will challenge our volleyball IQ.

Annual Cost: $10,000
