MOUNT PLEASANT - Six members of the Central Michigan football program have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV team.

Bryan Anderson and Matt Berning were both voted to the academic all-district first team, while Eric Fraser, Dan LeFevour, Sean Murnane and Frank Zombo all were second team selections.

CMU's six honorees are the most of any program in the Mid-American Conference. No other MAC program placed more than two student-athletes on the academic all-district squad. This is the third straight season CMU has led the MAC in academic all-district selections.

As first team honorees, both Anderson and Berning will be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

Anderson is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection who earned academic all-district second team honors in 2007. He is CMU's all-time leader in receptions (265), receiving yards (3,365) and touchdown receptions (23), and he holds the nation's longest active streak of consecutive games played with a reception (49). In 2009, Anderson has caught 39 passes for 501 yards and two touchdowns.

Berning ranks second among his teammates with 72 total tackles in 2009. He has recorded 5.5 tackles for loss, including two sacks. Berning has made at least 10 tackles in a game three times this season, including a career-high 13 stops in a win at Western Michigan. Berning was an Academic All-MAC selection in 2008.

Fraser is an academic all-district second team selection for the second straight season. He also earned Academic All-MAC honors in 2008. The four-year letterman has started each of CMU's nine games this season and has tallied 29 tackles. He was named CMU's most valuable defensive back last season.

LeFevour, a three-time Academic All-MAC honoree, is a member of the academic all-district second team for the second straight season. LeFevour is a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and has been named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and Davey O'Brien Award. He ranks fifth in NCAA history with 14,098 career yards of total offense, and his 132 career touchdowns (90 passing, 41 rushing, one receiving) are the most of any active player. LeFevour is the only player in NCAA history with more than 11,000 career passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards.

Murnane is a member of the academic all-district team for the first time. He has started 22 consecutive games on the Chippewas' defensive line and has 100 career tackles, including 12.5 tackles for loss. Murnane has 29 total tackles, including 3.5 for a loss of yardage, in 2009.

Zombo is a three-time academic all-district second team selection and two-time Academic All-MAC honoree. He ranks third in school history with 21.5 career sacks and 10th with 33 tackles for loss. Zombo led the MAC in tackles for loss (15.5) and ranked second in sacks (nine) in 2008.

CMU (7-2 overall, 5-0 MAC) is back in action Wednesday, Nov. 11 when it hosts Toledo at 8 p.m. ESPN2 will televise the contest live to a national audience.
