Mannino became the second CMU soccer player in program history to be named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District first team.
MOUNT PLEASANT — Junior goalkeeper Shay Mannino (Grosse Ile, Mich./Grosse Ile HS) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV first team, which was announced on Thursday.

Mannino sports a 3.89 grade-point average as an elementary education major. The junior leads the MAC with a 0.50 goals against average and a school-record 13 solo shutouts while her .855 save percentage ranks fourth in the conference. This is her second appearance on the Academic All-District squad, she was a second-team selection in 2008.

As a first-team pick, Mannino will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. She is only the second CMU player to earn first-team honors, and the first since Jacquie Lacek, who did so twice, in 2006.
