An outstanding tackle for CMU from 1938-40, Hi went on to become one of the most successful prep football coaches in Michigan history... co-captained the 1940 Chippewa squad and helped his team to a record of 18-5 in three seasons... was president of the men's Union Board at CMU as well as a member of the student council... made the Detroit Lions but a back injury ended his career... coached at Chesaning, Ithaca, Cadillac, Bay City Handy and Saginaw Arthur Hill high schools for a total of 25 years, winning 10 conference titles, posting seven undefeated seasons and twice being named the state's coach of the year... his Cadillac teams won 26 straight games and claimed 1950 state title... was inducted into the Michigan High School Hall of Fame in 1984.
