Became CMU's first baseball All-America honoree, earning a first-team nod from the NAIA in 1964... set the school record for total bases in a game (15)... was the team MVP and recipient of the Student-Athlete Award... served as an assistant CMU coach from 1964-71 before becoming head coach... guided the Chippewas from the Division II ranks into a Division I powerhouse, compiling a record of 456-203 in 14 seasons... his teams won four Mid-American Conference championships... he earned four MAC Coach of the Year awards and two NCAA Regional Coach of the Year honors... was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1989... also served as CMU athletics director.
