A successful student-athlete, coach and administrator... a Mount Pleasant High School standout who played baseball, golf and basketball for the Chippewas before graduating in 1947... became a professor of health and physical education in 1948, and was CMU's freshman coach in football, basketball and baseball... became the head baseball coach in 1953 and compiled a 10-year record of 151-114-1... became dean of the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1962, a position he served in for 20 years until he was named dean of the reorganized School of Education, Health and Human Services... CMU's baseball facility, Theunissen Stadium, is named in his honor.
