A football, basketball and track standout who graduated in 1929... was voted to the all-time CMU football team in 1969... was captain of the 1928 and 1929 gridiron squads... twice named to the All-Michigan College Conference Team... was a big man for his day at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds... was a starter on the conference championship basketball team and set a CMU record in discus... followed his collegiate career with successful coaching stints in Saginaw, Cadillac and at the University of Michigan... was the athletics director at Lincoln University in Coatesville, Pa., and became the football coach and athletics director at Willamette University in Oregon in 1949... later became the head coach at Slippery Rock... earned high school coaching records of 93-23 in football and 180-47 in basketball.
