Coach Sue Guevara
Opening Statement:
“Well where’s the place on campus where they sell grinders? Because that’s exactly what we did. We had to grind that game out and I give NIU all the credit in the world they came in and in that first couple of minutes, they shot the lights out on us and I thought we got frustrated early, missing easy puppies, wide open three’s, but I give our team a lot of credit in the second half.
On the play of junior Jas'Mine Bracey:
"She came in and hit some big free throws for us down the stretch. She finishes with a double-double. I debated whether I was going to start her in the second half but you know she’s a junior and you stay with her and she made a big fat difference for us."
On Northern Illinois' play
"Just happy that we are still undefeated at home and we’re always going to get the best shot of everybody and we just have to be ready to give our best shot back.“
On playing MAC undefeated Bowling Green Saturday:
“We’ve had a few tests and Bowling Greens coming in their undefeated and we’re undefeated but guess what, we’re in the McGuirk, that makes a big fat difference.”
Junior Crystal Bradford
On the team stepping it up in the second half:
“I feel like we should come out as hungry as we are in the second half, but there’s something about our team that we just come out in the second half."
On the play of Northern Illinois:
"Credit to them, they definitely came out and gave us a good run for our money. We didn't underestimate them. We knew they were better than they have been, but we didn't give them our best shot in the second half. They have some pretty good guards, so they are going to be a force to reckon with."
