Women's XC Finishes Third at MAC Championships

Senior Krista Parks earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors while sophomores Breanne Lesnar and Kelly Schubert earned second-team accolades as the Central Michigan women’s cross country team finished third of 12 at the MAC Championships Saturday.

Parks finished seventh in 21:31.69 to lead the Chippewas, who scored 60 points. She earned All-MAC honors for the fourth-consecutive season, following first team honors in 2010 and 2012 and second-team honors in 2011.

"I don't know how much better you can ask those ladies to run because they ran a great race," associate head coach Matt Kaczor said. "It was fun, it was a good race."

Sophomore-duo Lesnar and Schubert finished eighth in 21:32.39 and 12th in 21:44.95, respectively, to earn their first career All-MAC honors with second-team accolades.

Rounding out the scoring for the Chippewas was sophomore Alyssa Dyer finishing 16th in 21:52.55 and junior Abby Kelto finishing 17th in 21:56.48.

Redshirt freshman Esther Bell placed 59th in 23:20.56 and senior Shelby Thren finished 67th in 23:31.97.

Ohio’s Julie Accurso claimed the overall individual championship for the second-straight year with a time of 20:37.46.

The Chippewas continue their season with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 15, at Madison, Wisc. where the team will try to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
