MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan senior 133-pounder Scotti Sentes has been named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
Sentes, ranked No. 2 in the country at 133 pounds by InterMat, went 2-0 at the Northeast Duals Saturday in Troy, N.Y. Sentes opened the day with a 7-1 decision over Bricker Dixon of No. 8 Cornell before defeating No. 17 Jamie Franco of Hofstra by decision, 8-2. The senior is off to a 3-0 start in his final campaign in the Maroon and Gold, showing the true form that allowed him to earn a pair of All-American honors before taking a redshirt season last year.
The award is the first of the season for Sentes and the third of his career.
The Chippewas (2-2) open MAC competition Saturday when they travel to Ohio. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
