MOUNT PLEASANT — Sophomore Jessica Green has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Green (Belleville, Mich./Belleville) averaged 20 points, six rebounds and three steals per game in the Chippewas' opening weekend in which they split with Bradley and Northwestern. She led the Chippewas to a season-opening 73-58 win Friday at Bradley with 15 points and four boards before scoring a career-high 25 points on a career-high 11 field goals Sunday at Northwestern.
The sophomore also tied a career high with six steals in the loss to the Wildcats, and pulled down a seaon-high eight rebounds as well.
The Chippewas continue play this Saturday when they travel to No. 25 Green Bay Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
