Watch: Jordan Dean | Zach Cooper

MOUNT PLEASANT -Junior shortstop Jordan Dean and senior right-handed pitcher Zach Cooper were selected in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday evening.

Dean was taken by the Detroit Tigers with pick 484 of the draft, while Cooper was taken with the final pick of the round, No. 488, by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Dean (Midland, Mich./Bullock Creek) led the Chippewas in batting average (.349), at-bats (275), runs (62), hits (96), home runs (7), slugging percentage (.487) and stolen bases in 2012 en route to being named a Second-Team All-MAC selection. His 275 at-bats were the most in CMU single season history, while his 96 hits are the second most in a single season and ranked sixth in Division I.

The junior finished the season with 31 multi-hit contests and had at least one hit in all but nine of the Chippewas' 63 games.

Cooper (Hartland, Mich./Hartland) was the Chippewas' Friday starter, finishing with a 7-5 record and 2.82 earned run average with 98 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched. He finished his career with the Maroon and Gold ranked third in strikeouts (27), sixth in decisions (35; 22-13), seventh in innings pitched (281.1) and 10th in wins (22).

A 46th round pick by the Marlins organization a year ago, Cooper went 7-2 with a 1.62 ERA in nine Mid-American Conference starts en route to being named First-Team All-MAC. He pitched two complete-game shutouts - at Bowling Green (3/30) and versus Kent State (4/20) - and was named the MAC West Pitcher of the Week three times.
