Gold Takes Game 1 of Fall World Series, 7-3
Mount Pleasamt, Mich - Cental Michigan kicked off its 2013 Fall World Series in the annual best of seven series Friday afternoon with the Gold earning a 7-3 victory over the Maroon.

The game was close, going back and fourth multiple times until the Gold team took the lead for good in the seventh behind RBIs by sophomores Morgan Oliver and Ryan Heeke

The Gold team was led by starter Jordan Foley who held the Maroon team to six hits and two runs, while fanning five. Pat Kaminska earned the victory while Skylar Janisse picked up the save.

Freshman Robert Greenman helped open the scoring for the gold team with a double down the left field line that set up a run coming in off of a throwing error.  Cody LeichmanHeeke and  Greenman each added one RBI.

Zach Arthur scored two runs, one of them helped to extend the Gold team’s lead with a three-run ninth inning.

Maroon starter Taylor Lehnertt matched Foley’s day with six innings pitched allowing two runs on two hits and striking out eight. Blake Hibbitts was charged with the loss.

Colton Bradley kept the Maroon team in the game with his two timely hits, one of them producing a run.

The Chippewas will be back in action with game two of the Fall World Series, Saturday October 5th. First pitch will be at noon. Don’t forget there will be a free picnic to all fans, friends, and family directly after the game.
