Chippewas Drop Back and Forth Affair to Lafayette, 3-2

Philadelphia, Pa. - Lafayette scored with under nine minutes to play Saturday afternoon to hand Central Michigan its second-straight loss, 3-2.

The Chippewas (2-2) erased a deficit twice in the first half as senior Bailey McKeon knotted the match at 1-1 at the 16:28 mark on an assist from senior Julianna Makrinos.

The Leopards (1-1) again took the lead at the 26:17 mark on a goal by Hanna Sotiropoulous before Maude Stalars evened things up with her first career goal to send the two teams to the break tied, 2-2.

Stalars attempted to give the Chippewas the lead late in the match with a pair of shots on goal, but was unable to convert before Sotiropoulos scored the game winner with 8:40 to play.

Both teams fired 12 shots in the contest, with the Chippewas holding a 6-3 advantage in penalty corners. Sadie Reynolds made five saves in the contest as her record also dropped to 2-2 on the year.

CMU will play Iowa and Stanford in Iowa City next weekend.
