Coaching Highlights

• Became only the second coach in the program's Division I era to win seven non-conference games, first to do so in his first year at the helm

• Coached Chris Fowler to the freshman assist record and third in program history with 176 assists in one season. 

• Led Kyle Randall to a second team All-MAC selection and Fowler to an All-MAC Freshman team selection

• Half of the Chippewas’ 12 scholarship players had at least a 3.5 grade point average and the team combined for a 3.15 GPA, its best semester in a decade

• Introduced by Central Michigan University Athletics Director Dave Heeke as the Chippewas' 20th head men's basketball coach on April 3, 2012

• Named 2008 Coach of the Year by six national organizations, including the Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and The Sporting News

• Four years of Division I head coaching experience (74-55, .574)

• Has taken two teams to postseason play (2008 Drake/NCAA, 2009 Providence/NIT)

• Led the Drake Bulldogs to a 28-5 mark in his first season as head coach, which included a 15-3 record in the Missouri Valley Conference, an eight-week run in the top-25 polls, the program's first MVC regular season title since 1971 and its first ever MVC Tournament title

• Combined with his father, Dr. Tom Davis, the pair's 671 coaching victories rank 11th among all-time father-son combinations

• Established a Providence record for most wins by a first-year head coach (19)

• Defeated two top-10 teams in 2009, including No. 1 Pittsburgh

• Coached 2010 first-round draft pick Marshon Brooks

• Served for two years under Bruce Pearl at Southern Indiana, and under Gary Garner at Southeast Missouri State.
