College Prep Clinc Information
The Central Michigan University cheerleaders are an energetic group that promotes Chippewa pride at CMU sporting events and the Mount Pleasant area.
The CMU Cheer program is made up of three teams:
- 20-member All Girl
- 16-member Large Coed
- 16-member Small Coed (consisting of members from both coed and all girl)
The CMU cheerleaders cheer on the
sidelines for six athletic programs - football, men's basketball, women's
basketball, volleyball, soccer, and wrestling. The teams have also competed
nationally at the Division IA University Cheerleaders Association National
Championships. The Large Coed program finished 10th in 2005 and 14th in 2006.
The All Girl team placed seventh nationally in 2008 and 10th in 2009. The Small
Coed team placed 6th nationally in 2012 and recently ranked 8th
in the nation in the 2013 UCA Collegiate National Championships.
In addition to home games and competitions, the cheerleaders have cheered at
Ford Field for the MAC Championship football game, bowl games from 2006-2009,
and the men's and women's MAC Basketball Tournaments in Cleveland, Ohio. This past
December the team once again cheered from the sidelines of Ford Field during
the 2012 Little Caesers Pizza Bowl.
