The CMU Dance Team is an exciting and competitive collegiate dance squad that performs at Central Michigan University athletic events, pep rallies, university and community events, as well as at a number of special events such as parades and campus functions. Members on our dance team have a diverse background. Some members have been trained in dance, competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, kickline, pom and drill team. This diversity makes it a great team, drawing on each member's strengths to succeed. The members of the team are well respected on campus as student-athletes striving to support the CMU athletics program.

Re: Auditions 2013
Any audition submitted via mail will be considered and scored separately before the actual tryout. Each audition (video and live) will be compared and the team will be announced on Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2013.
Live Audition Components:
All people trying out for the 2013-2014 CMU Dance Team will be required to perform four eight-counts of your best technical skills. This will take place during the actual tryout after you perform the CMU choreographed routines. You will be judged on difficulty and execution.
Your Own Routine/Skills Set
You do not need to choreograph a routine. If you want to prepare a series and rehearse it for your technical elements section it is strongly encouraged.
Picking The Team
Our judges come from dance backgrounds and a history with CMU. There is no set number for who is picked for the team. This is based on where there is a natural break in the scores. Those who make the team are chosen by the Head Coach based on potential, attitude, past experiences, interaction with others, as well as judges' scores.
With the exception of the newly elected team captains, all current members will be trying out again.
Please wear comfortable dance attire that allows you move freely. Dance shoes are recommended. You MUST wear form-fitting clothing for the actual tryout portions, so judges can see body lines, positioning, and movement.
There is a non refundable tryout application fee of $20. Checks can be made out to Central Michigan University Dance Team.
