Doug Sanders, an assistant coach at Kent State during its 2012 run to the College World Series,  joined the Central Michigan baseball coaching staff in July of 2013.

A standout infielder at Kent State from in 2007 and 2008, Sanders spent three seasons as a volunteer assistant for the Golden Flashes where he was responsible for infield and outfield defensive instruction that led to the 29th best defense in the country in 2010 and eighth best defense in 2011.

Sanders was a part of Scott Stricklin’s staff that made an incredible run through the NCAA Regional and Super Regional to earn a spot in the College World Series before spending last season as a full-time assistant at Malone University.

At CMU, in addition to other duties, Sanders will be responsible for hitting instruction, infield defense and base running on the field, while assisting in recruiting, travel planning and scouting reports off the field.

Sanders earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Kent State in 2008.
