MOUNT PLEASANT - The Chippewa Athletic Fund membership drive has officially begun and will continue through June 1, 2013. Last year over 2,500 donors came together to raise $1.3 million in annual support for Central Michigan University Athletics. This support helped Chippewa student-athletes continue to perform at a championship level both in the classroom and on the field of play.

CAF members play a key role in the academic and athletic success of our teams. We have had a lot to celebrate as our Chippewa Football team claimed its third bowl victory in school history in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. CMU Wrestling and Gymnastics continued a string of dominance in the Mid-American Conference earning MAC titles in 2012. Women's basketball also firmly etched themselves in the upper echelon of the MAC by earning their second-straight postseason appearance in 2012.

The Chippewa Soccer team continued their push as a player on the national stage by earning the MAC's first ever at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 while posting the ninth highest GPA in the country. Also in the classroom, CMU Softball posted the fifth highest GPA among Division I schools and CMU Field Hockey had a program-record seven Academic All-MAC selections.

One of the reasons why CMU Athletics is so successful is because of Chippewa Athletic Fund donors. Every dollar contributed directly impacts the lives of Chippewa student-athletes. In order to progress in our common vision of a Championship Culture, we have raised the bar for this year's membership drive. Our goals this year are to raise $1.38 million and to increase our CAF membership to 3,000 members.

For our longtime CAF members, we hope you will renew your support, or consider an increase in your contribution to CMU Athletics. We also hope that you will spread the word about why the CAF is so vital to the success of Chippewa Athletics.

If you are not a CAF member, please consider making a gift that will have an immediate and positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes.

There are many ways to get involved with the Chippewa Athletic Fund. The most fundamental way to support our student-athletes is to become a Chippewa Club member. Chippewa Club members enjoy benefits that include priority parking and seating options, invitations to exclusive events and trips and much more! Chippewa Club giving can be unrestricted or directed to any one of our programs and goes to support their annual operating budget.

If you are looking for a way to make an above and beyond impact on our programs, consider joining the 1100 Club and/or become a Chippewa Champion. By joining one of these programs you help to support above and beyond initiatives and enjoy a number of sport-specific benefits.

We thank you in advance for your support of CMU Athletics!
