Philip Wendland joined the staff to fill the position of Director of Basketball Operations in 2011.

Wendland handles CMU's travel arrangements and equipment, as well as the team's film exchange and budget. He also oversees the team's managers, assists with the facilitation of camps and aids the rest of the coaching staff in the day-to-day operations of the program.

A native of Plymouth, Wendland joined the CMU staff after spending five years as a team manager for the University of Michigan. He was a team manager from 2006 to 2008 before taking over as the head team manager in 2008. In 2009 he was given the Graduate Administrative position.

"I am first and foremost very happy to have Phil on staff," Guevara said. "He comes with a great deal of experience from the University of Michigan and everyone I spoke with over there could not say enough positive things about him. He is a hard worker who is always thinking ahead and we are looking for him to hit the ground running. Above all, Phil is a relentless worker and I am very pleased to have him on staff."

Wendland graduated from UM in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sports Management and a minor in Economics. He served as a inside sales intern and a brand marketing intern at Palace Sports and Entertainment in Auburn Hills. He then returned to the UM to receive his Master of Arts Degree in Sports Management, which was completed in 2011.

While at the Michigan, Wendland oversaw managers' and practice players' programs, maintained recruiting files, composed newsletters, handled team travel plans, assisted with the on-campus recruiting visits, assisted with camps and clinics and managed the team's video needs.
