Kristen Paulsen is in her third year at Central Michigan University as an assistant coach on Willie Randolph’s staff. After several seasons assisting the jumps and multi-events, she now assists in training the middle- and long-distance student-athletes while also adding assistant duties in cross country this season.

Paulsen assisted coach Glenn Smith in the development of the Chippewa jumps and multi-events. The work paid immediate dividends as senior Erika Schroll broke the school record in 2010 in the indoor high jump and also qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Schroll was also an NCAA Provisional qualifier indoors in the pentathlon as she finished fourth in the competition at the MAC indoor Championships. Schroll also qualified for the NCAA East Region prelims in the high jump during the outdoor season.

Paulsen competed in multiple events at Baldwin-Wallace College. She was a four-time outdoor national championships qualifier four times in the heptathlon. Paulsen won the 100m hurdles at the All-Ohio Championships four straight years and she also claimed conference titles in the javelin throw (2007), high jump (2007) and 100m hurdles (2008).

Paulsen holds the school record in the indoor pentathlon and 60m hurdles.

The Oberlin, Ohio native graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in May 2008 with a degree in exercise science.
